Day 9 (8.21)- Pop Culture

As I’ve been taking more and more photos, I’ve realized there are 3 huge interrelated parts of modern Korean culture that fascinate me most, fashion/beauty, gaming, and entertainment. I see these aspects as interrelated as they are mixed-media arts that share both similarities and differences from the American versions of these pop culture aspects, as well as showing great influence from the history of Korean culture deeply ingrained in the country’s society. In the following weeks, I’ll be making posts with data that relate to my experiences with Korean fashion, gaming culture, and musical and film influences on society as a way to examine to Korea’s mixed-media and how it is unique. As a Media and Communications major, it seems only natural to focus on aspects that relate to my studies back at home, so mixed-media is a no-brainer. I’ll also try to do a recap of events that happen every few days that may be unrelated to these aspects. Stay tuned!
